Not since the early 90's has the trucking industry recorded a price drop compared to the previous yeer's priciing. LTL carriers have cut their pricing by more than 2.5% in the first quarter of '09, and TL carriers have experienced over a 4% drop in prices. Given the current recession pressures and excess capacity supply will continue to override capacity for the remainder of 2009. Expectations are for overall rates to fall by more than 7% during the year and gain back only a fraction (0.1%) in 2010.*
